Go buy a real penetrant like Kroil or PBBlaster. WD40 is not for removing bolts. SRSLY!

Okay, this really might need to be moved to the "Fail" thread, as I have PB Blaster but listened to someone (not a Dorki but a pro) who told me to use WD40. This morning, Matt told me PB Blaster was much better. Luckily just one - now a chance to do the rest correctly. Also lucky I have a hoist in my garage currently to make it easier to get engine into a truck bed if this one doesn't come out when the HEs are off, and/or if another one snaps (now to get a truck...).

Absolutely, that stuff works wonders. A few teaspoons of it before bedtime and by morning, things have "loosened up" and are moving again. Works well for rusty exhaust hardware too.

Peter, if the rust looks to have melded the 2 together, there may not be enough PB Blaster or heat in the world (ask me how I know). Best of luck!

+3 on Kroil. Old Man Hopkins (my father) is retired but works on generators and other tools used by his buddy installing docks and bulkheads in saltwater canals in Florida. He faces rusted fasteners on every piece of equipment and he sings the praises of Kroil all the time. I mentioned PB Blaster and he poopood that stuff as amateur shit.

I hear Kroil is a pretty good bore cleaner, too.
