Default 944 cold start

Is there a cold start valve or something similar on a 944?

Nope. The DME provides additional enrichment for cold start.

So what could cause a cold start/runnig problem? I'm very seriously considering buying a 85/2 44 that runs great when warmed up but not so much until then. It's Howards and he's had ~4k in head work done.

There are temperature sensors that would tell the car/DME it's cold and to provide more fuel. What Chris says is true, there's no CSV like you'd find on a CIS car, but there is still cold enrichment.

My new 944 had a lot problems when I bought it and last year when it was cold....it would stall out at lights and stuff, but warm it'd run great. I never actually fixed anything and it ceased to be an issue. Go figure.

AFM, coolant sensor, vac leak, FPR. There are several possibilities. Should be a pretty easy fix. I wouldn't let it stop you for buying the car.

So your first guess would be sensors or could the dme be mildly buggered. FWIW, last week it was running rough below 2500 but driving and new gas along with FI injector cleaner took care of 95% of it.

Does it still have the fragile plastic vacuum lines? Good source for a vacuum leak there. Even if the DME was shot, you can get all that stuff super cheap off Rennlist guys.

Not sure on the lines. I'll replace them like I do w/all old cars. 944s are unfamiliar territory even w/the Audi connection. I'll also be looking to trade a set of late offset wheels for early.

Wouldn't expect you to comment in any other way, Bonehead. But you obviously didn't read the thread and FWIW the 78 runs fine but for me finishing repairing the exhaust studs and getting back the bilsteins from re-valving. Please learn to read.
