Agreed! The right rear on the jetta has been using that "pad" for quite a while (and the rotor shows it too.) Thats the next owners problem

You know its bad when the wife, who can't even change a flat, wrinkes her nose and asks if that sound is from the brakes...

Don't forget, the MD law states the seller must have it safety inspected before selling (yeah right)....

In MD, cars do go through a brief lights inspection when being emissions tested annually. Not sure what the bribe is to get a burnt taillight through...

I will give MD credit, though, for the thoroughness of the pre-registration inspection of a non-historic car. Your car has to be in top shape to pass. My 996 failed because 1 of the 2 license plate lights was burnt out.

Oh, and Dr. K's car is a loooong way away from even thinking about an inspection (if needed)

I believe the law is a dealer has to have it inspected before selling. The buyer is responsible for private transactions.

And Im pretty sure the emissions folks aren't required to check for squat (emissions and safety inspections are done by two different departments that refuse to talk to one another.) My 911 passed sniffer emissions and it didn't even have doors or bumpers hung. (or seats, or seatbelts, or...)

It's true, when I used to live in MD, I had a 914 w/ historic tags. I was moving to a new home only 3 miles away, and my daily driver was out of commission, so I was moving stuff with the 914 (yeah, fail, I know. ).

Anyhow, Ft. Detrick was right in the middle of this 3 mile drive, and I must have driven past it 100 times in 3 days while moving stuff. On the 3rd day, an MP at the base entrance pulls me over. While he didn't write me a ticket, he gave me a stern warning about how he's seen me going back and forth for several days now, and it's illegal to use a historic car as a daily driver.

I've always wondered what the legal definition of 'daily driver' is. If you have 4 historic vehicles and drive a different one each day to work and your regular car on monday, is that ok?
