If the car is dedicated to DE driving I'd recommend you investigate getting the Porsche motorsport oil baffle kit. Helps to eliminate oil starvation in hard corners. I know it is pricey but may help keep that engine churning.

I really appreciate all responses. Since I am technically inadequate, any offer to help install the equipment would have to be with the understanding that all I can do is turn a wrench and do minor stuff. Nor do I have a place to do this.
I am well versed in the purchase of pizza, beer, and can really use a broom. I intend on using the car for DE. I guess I am hooked. But I will have to drive on the it on the street as well. Will drive the car to events such as MO, WG, etc. I am talking with several shops regarding the purchase install and have not committed to anyone yet. But I would like to get this done before MO if possible. Open to any more suggestions or advice. Thanks again. You guys are great. Tuffy von Briesen |

Find some garage space, round up your parts and we can do it. PSS-9's are on eBay sometimes and www.europeanautomotive.com has them too, I believe. They have free shipping. Also try Steve Timmins at www.instant-g.com. If you really plan on DIY'ing it, do some research on the Rennlist 996 board. I don't know for sure, but I don't think 996 suspension is all that different from that of a 993.

Here's a link to a guy who swapped out his springs and shocks (not PSS9 but the removal/installation should be similar): http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...threadid=13753
Also check out renntech.org for more 996 DIY tips. That site has helped me plenty o' times! And I really suggest a baffle kit, as the 996 has a wet sump and I've heard a few horror stories about oil starvation at the track in 996s and 986s. If you are thinking of running slicks the baffle is a necessity.

One of the local shops installed mine, but did not adjust them correctly. They are a great shop, so I am sure my experience was a fluke so I do not particularly want to name them.
However, Jose at Autobahn tuned my suspension and fixed the incorrect settings. My car handles extremely well now. I would contact him and see what he will charge you. I bought my PSS9s and GT3 Swaybars from Gert at www.carnewal.com. At the time, he had the best price by far. TD in DC

I found a set of shocks at SHOX.com. They were 1899.00 for the set. I pounced on them quickly as they were the last set. The guy said that Bilstein had a special on them a while back and they bought a bunch. I verified that they were for a 1999 996 C2.
If anyone is looking for PSS9's they might try this. I found them through Google at www.shox.com Anyone ever heard of them. Tuffy von Briesen |

Yes, I've bought from shox.com before (not for the 911, though)... they have a good rep, so you should have no worries.
Sounds like you got a very nice deal on the PSS9s!!!! Way to go.

I think this was pure dumb luck. An opportune query on Google to find the store and then them having a set of the PSS9's in stock.
I think I'll buy lottery tickets tomorrow. Tuffy von Briesen |

OK now let's get a team that can bolt this stuff into his car and I will rent out the Taj and tools.

I'm pretty sure I can do this job. There are a few tiny, cheap dealer parts you'll want, so you don't have to bother trying to save the old ones. Get those plastic housings that go over the brake sensor wire plugs and there are a few plastic connectors/clips. Can't remember exactly, but ask the one or two DIY'ers on Rennlist and someone there knows what all to get - under $15 for sure.
