Skippy needs front rotors. Unfortunately, it requires removal of the hubs. This is outside of my experience and I suspect beyond my tool collection. Anyone care to undertake such a project? Also, what else will I need? New bearings? ?
Thanks!

Greg,
Front hub removal = easy peasy, with no special tools required. No need to replace the bearings unless they are shot, or unless you have a need to increase the scope of the rotor replacement project by a factor of 2 or 3. Let me know when you have the front up in the air and the calipers off [just support them - don't disconnect the brake lines] & I'll come over.

Pretty sure Turbo hubs are similar to 911 NAs (except for the additional offset, 22mm?). You just need to take the caliper off and then the big nut under the dust cover on the spindle. There’s a cotter pin to remove, then the whole shooting match just pulls off. Do you have “floating rotors”? I thought they could be changed without removing the hub? If not there are I believe five 10mm (?) across-the-flats nuts and bolts that mount the rotor to the hub. Bearings are cheep, but why or why not replace should depend on condition. Look for obvious “sliding” (wear) or dark spots (heat).

David,
The scope creep I mentioned was the process of removing the races adn presing in the new ones. Its just more work. Not difficult, but needs to be done with the right tools & a press to avoid damaging the inner hub faces.

No worries, I actually posted mine without reading yours so I was stating that which had been said before… again

On non-930 brakes, the dust cover can be hammered, pried at, etc. On the 930, it presses into the spacer/hub assembly so you'll need a good slide hammer or something similar to extract it. I built a device to pull the dust cover out, but it self-destructed while pulling the second dust cover off.

Ditto on what Josh said.
You'll have to thread a bolt into the dust cover fitting and use a slide hammer to remove. You'll be surprised as to how much effort is required to remove those damn things. I've got one you can use..

Have you got a good source? Vertex runs them for $289 a piece.

Jase,
Greg already has the rotors - an eBay/Pelican/Rennlist deal. Not sure which.
