Default 944S Wheel Lockup

I'm snowed!

Under threshold braking the right front wheel locks up. It's always the right front. I've changed brake pads, calipers, brake fluid, rotated the wheels/tires, and put on different size wheels/tires. Nothing works. The only thing I haven't done is changed the rotors but I can't imagine how the rotors could be the problem.?

Any ideas!

Hi Aubrey, good to see you still around. Where are you going fast enough to use threshold braking???????
Add more weight to the passenger side or reduce weight on drivers side!!

x3 on corner balance. I was doing the same thing - locking up the front right. Flat spotted 2 tires. Corner balanced the car and the problem went away.

A less likely alternative problem is that your front left caliper is hanging up due to bad seals/rust/etc. Do 944Ss have Brembo calipers or cast iron? If the front left caliper is sticking, then more brake force is being transferred to the front right disc, locking it up first. When were the calipers rebuild last?

If the CB is good check the struts and compression damping. If you have a strut that is weak on CD it will load the other wheel upon braking. Do you have the same rate springs?

Just a thought. Could it possibly be a brake proportioning valve or distribution valve? Or a brake line blockage?

Default Lockup

I just put new re-built calipers on the front 2 weeks ago. I was sure that was the problem. FAIL!

The front springs are 400#

Koni Sports with coil overs on all 4 corners. New inserts in March 2008.

Dirk: Three guys pushing and going down hill with a good tailwind. I can smoke that right front every time!

X2 but I believe the problem is that the line is not releasing the pressure. Are they OEM rubber? I originally thought caliper sticking but it seems you’ve done that. However if the S’s use the small calipers the slide for the none piston side could be hanging up too.

Clogged line will not make the wheel lock up it slows the reaction to the MC . Might make the opp wheel lock or make the clogged side will overheat and drag.

Froggy. we can toss it on the scales to see if you corners are out.

I agree but was referring to the deterioration of the hose causing it to not releasing the pressure. Was just agreeing with LamJet that the problem was/could be the hose.
