Why a 62? Why not a 60 or a 55 or a 45 or a 40? Go to cruiserparts.net to get ideas on pricing and heck, maybe he has one or more FS. He bought mine when I no longer had a use for them. Still miss my '78 FJ40.

If you want cool, maybe a FJ45 (PU version of a 40 +/-) or better yet, A rover series or 110 PU w/a diesel!! You'll never see yourself going the other way and it'll never depreciate.

Default Fj60

I sold my '87 FJ60 last fall for $3,500 with 170,000 miles on the clock (for the 2F engine, that's just getting broken in).

It was (and still is) an awesome vehicle and was my daily driver (except on nice days when I drive my SC) for 10 years.

I lived in SC, NC and NoVA with it. It was a great Carolina rig, not so much fun here in VA. I sold it because I will be remaining in the area for the rest of my career (USMC), and the vehicle just doesn't cut it having to get on 95 and make my way around.

FJ62 is very similar to the FJ60 with the major differences being the 62 went to an auto trans and the 2F engine went to fuel injection (FJ60's were carb'd).

They are an emissions nightmare to boot. I had mine licensed in Ohio for this reason.

I replaced it with a 05 Toyota 4Runner. Great vehicle, but hardly a Sport Utility the way the FJ60/FJ62's were. Cargo space on the 60's was enormous, and you didn't feel bad about loading it down with plants or stuff that would dirty up a newer vehicle.

Been a 100-series owner for a while now (Lexus variant). Had a '99, now have an '04. Comfy, roomy, comfy, reliable, comfy, solid, and comfy. Hmm, what else can I say? Its comfy. They can be had for cheap, too. I sold my '99 w/ 110K for $13K last fall. They tow 6500 lbs too. Kinda nice loading the car on the trailer and climbing into the Cruiser/LX470 for pain free drive home from the track. They're monsters in the snow too when equipped with snow tires.

This thread is really making me want a BJ40. I think I am going to get one. Seems like decent ones with low rust can be had in the 10k range. What a cool ride.

Are you sure? You can get a project 914 for way less than $10K, Bill.
