Default transmission mount bushings for '68 911

the tranny mount bushings are original and should be replaced while I'm tearing the engine down. Pelican website states that the bushings cannot be replaced and instead one must replace the entire cross bar. What are some options for replacement bushings or is it possible to source a crossbar from a later year and bolt it on?

There are some solid mounts that can be fitted with some tweaking but I really don't want to introduce more noise into the car.

Thanks

I'd try sources a later crossbar. At least it would be a start. Also might see if you can find a later mount and see if it can be fitted to the original cross mount. Try posting this question to one of the early 911 sites to get some additional info. Be sure to report back any info to enlighten the collective.

Try posting this question here http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/index.php

1968 is a very unique year for the 911s, every thing seems to be one year only.

Pet lists the same part from 66 to 69. There are still available from Porsche. I bought one last year for about 700.
Other than that why don't you see if the bushings are the same (remove them from bar) as the rear motormount bushings.

I managed to find a good used early 901 mount for my '68, much less $$ than new. If you search on Pelican, I once saw plans for an adapter plate allowing you to use a 915 crossbar.
