Dremmel is sold and picked up. A sales pitch is not needed for a good tool at a good price.
Why all the violence and cutting? I must have been lucky as I have never had to cut a ball joint ring nut off. Heat, liquid wrench and some tapping has worked 100% of the time for me. Dave R gave Bill J a 5 bolt front end for the Yellow Fellow (Thanks again, Dave!) and the ball joint ring nuts looked like rusty lumps. Heat and some tapping took em' right off. We were able to clean them up on the belt sander and reuse them too. Soak the ring top and bottom let it sit some then heat the ring till the L.W. is smoking off, tap the ring loose using a dull cold chisel. If some tapping does not do it soak again wait 20 min or so and re heat.

You hear horror stories enough to make people prepaire for the worst.
I had no problem with mine with the 4WD socket. I bought the impact to get the rear axle nut off. Heat is almost always good to losen things up. Kurt do you think a propane or Mapp torch will get it hot enough or do you think a cutting torch is required?

IHave a propane torch in the top of my tool box. I go to it all the time for stuck stuff. The Ox/Acetylene rig sits and collects dust. Ask Bill J, we were using propane to unstick all kinds of stuff on the yellow fellow
It is not a matter of cooking something red hot just making a corrosion bond break via thermal expansionof one of the two parts. Heat the outside part to get it to expand before the inside part does. Sometimes I spray something cold on the inner part. Another trick I have used is to heat a nut hot and then drip Liquid wrench into the threads as it cools. It seems to get sucked in as the two parts cool. I let it sit some to fully cool and reheat. 9 times out of 10 the nut comes right off.

Is anyone available this weekend to help me remove the castle nuts from the a-arms to get the ball joints out? I already have them off the SC. Name your favorite beer and I'll bring it!
