Default Kart NighT

Thanks to Manny Alban for setting up the Kart night. It was indeed a blast.

Thanks to my team mates as well. I had a great time out there!

Jim, Ilya, Gunther, and Charlie.

I believe it is safe to say we did justice to the Team Dorkiphus name!

Hope to see everyone again soon!

Thanks again,

Geoffrey

Must apologize to Gunther though. Keeping him out there for 20 minutes when the track was sticky must have been murder. I was only out for about 7 mins and couldnt wait for the checker.

It was pretty funny to see Bill Jay come into the pits for a driver change, not see his relief and contine full throttle right out of pit lane.... didnt loose a position either.

Great event.

And again, WE WERE NOT LAST

Really great seeing everyone there, and although the night was confusing with the team/kart/timing fiasco, had a great time! Dorki's represented quite well i should say.

Not only did Bill jay make a lap using the pit lane but he pulled a 23.5 doing it. We were tryng to tell him to zero in and drive hard as he was hitting 22.00 laps and we wanted him to focus in and get some 21s.

Andy C did a 21.714 one of many sub 22s and that is just plain fast. The only other sub 22. was from a pro driver.

Big thanks to the folks that worked to set the race night up and my thanks to the better parts of the Tech Team, Andy, Bill, Mat and Eric the Trebuchet for a great night of driving and lots of laughts. We were also not last!

Allsports will be working all week to put the Karts back together after this one.

I'd also like to thank Manny for setting up a great event!! I can't wait for the next one.

Geoff you are right I was totally done at the end of my stint I forgot how much work it is to drive hard lap after lap. And tahanks to the rest of the team for doing a great job of driving and just having a good time.

I also want to thank Jim for leading our team. Hope to all of you at some upcomeing track events.

BTW - the first PCA Kart League event is TONIGHT. Not sure how many are on tap for this year, but this has really been a great place to learn and have fun while having some friendly competition. Broken up by relative skill level, you will always have someone to play with out there (good news for Pari - he wont have to play with himself).

I am gonna try it again after a year hiatus, and I think Eli is gonna give it a go as well!

Here is the link.

I think people shoudl be there by 6 or so for the first evening at least. Hope some Dorki find this habit as addictive as I have.

Thanks to Allsports for working with us. When they ran out of working karts, it could have been a disaster, but having two races with 6 and 7 karts seemed to to the trick. Although I would have loved to have driven the track after the oil spill and gotten some 23's.

Anyways, after all was said and done, we had $215 left over so we are donating it to UNICEF for the tsunami relief fund.

Manny did a great job with registration. It was one less thing for me to worry about.

I want to thank everyone for being a good sport for all of the curves being thrown at us. Everything seemed to work out in the end, it just took a whole lot longer. Allsports was great, things got a little confused with them in the beginning. I had only planned for 6 sprint heats, with 13 drivers each. But the heats were being run with 10 or less drivers. Minh told me he would get everything in, and Allsports did. I forsee a 50 driver cap next year, I don't think they will let us have 13 karts again.

Hoepfully everyone enjoyed the format change this year. I thought having sprints in the beginning would give some individual competition and things seemed to work out well.

Here's the final standings for the Enduro. The first chart is with the handicaps and the second is if we had no handicaps. The weight of each team didn't play a big roll in the overall standings. We kind of saw the same thing with the sprints. I think it's more the luck of the draw if you get a great kart or a slow one.

As Manny has already said we are donating the money left over, so atleast of trails and tribulations from sunday, were for a good cause.
