Default Daytona DE Dec. 12-14

The Audi Club is running their December DE again December 12-14, 2008 on the road course of Daytona speedway. http://ohio.audiclubna.org/events_cal.html

There are a couple of local Porsche's that are going. I'm going to be looking into car transports. Anybody from this group going? Anybody interested in putting their car on the transport with us?

I might be interested in doing it. Let me know about transport costs when you find out. Do you know if they have a full cage requirement like the porsche clubs do that run there?

I don't believe there is any requirement for a cage or roll bar.

Ryan, How fast do you guess your GT3 could go on the banking? I am not sure I am tough enough to go 150+ on banking without a full safety system. But then again, I don't chew

I used to run motorcycles at Daytona quite a bit when I lived in Orlando. That was the early 90s and we were hitting easily in the 160-170 range before the sphincter factor got too high. Even with full armored leathers, that was a bit scary. I'd love to take the Boxsera down there and give it a shot to see if I could top it out. The gearing limits me to 155 I think, but I would guess on the banking after the chicane, I could get there before I had to brake for turn one (into the infield).

I have gotten loose on banking twice.

I did an autocross years ago at Old Dominion Raceway. While trying to dive down to get to a gate near the apron, the tail stepped out. I nearly bit a hole in my seat when it happened on banking and I am not sure I would like it at heavy triple digit speeds.

The second time was last year on the Shenendoah. I hit some fluid (I think) entering the karosel and got the Carrera sideways on that narrow banking. Talk about threading the needle! My passenger mentioned that he might have shit himself after that one.

Maybe I should try to go just to face my fears.
