Thanks for the replies. I had intended to reply this morning but work has been very busy getting ready for a meeting tomorrow. Unfortunately last night I was stuck in wrapping gifts so I was unable to go out and test some suggestions. I will be doing so tonight and will give some greater details later this evening or tomorrow.

I will add that I have not checked the gear oil level. I was going to see if that is something I can easially do this weekend.

We don't need to do any extensive cruising -- we can just ride in each car around the neighborhood and up/ down a short stretch of 395. That should probably be enough to establish if the G50 in your car is "normal" or not.

Hey, come on now! I was just looking for a way to help him get piece-of-mind as quickly as possible, as he seemed pretty concerned, and he probably doesn't live too far from my house and office. Plus there really aren't any good spots for 'fun runs' here in Alexandria, unless you consider sitting in grid lock on Duke Street 'fun'

When I'm sitting in grid lock on Duke Street, I'm still driving 6 times as fast as Pari can on an open highway!

Ok, to answer the questions.

The noise is only heard with the clutch fully disengaged and the car under light load. As soon as I push the clutch in a few millimeters the noise goes away. The noise is not dependant on throttle being naught or light. Under moderate to full acceleration the noise is not made, as well, when it is made it seems to go away above ~2.5K to 3K. Warm or cold does not seem to affect it.
