Can you please clarify the 'lowering springs'? Is this a reference to lowered ride height only, or have the t-bars and shocks/ struts been replaced as well?

Talon's point was that there is no such thing as "lowering springs" for a 911 like this unless it has been converted to coil overs, which is doubtful. These cars have torsion bars, any of which can be used to set the ride height where ever you want.

In other words, you don't have to buy new torsion bars to lower the car, unlike almost every other car on the road where you have to buy new coil over springs to lower the ride height.

tmpcolt45,

Not to beat a dead horse, but torsion bars are, in fact, springs. Just not the coiled up kind you are used to in Chevies, Bic pens, and 935 coil-over kits.

I think the salient point (Jazz and Talon are making) is that there is no such thing as a lowering torsion spring (aka torsion bar) for an older 911, since any torsion spring can be set to any possible ride height permitted by adjusters, splines, fenders/wheel wells, and suspension travel.

Stiffer (that is, thicker) torsion springs allow you to set the ride height lower while reducing the risk of bottoming the suspension under compression. Trade off is a rougher ride.

That's a fine looking Carrera! Good luck with the sale. Too bad the wheels aren't factory or the concours folks would be drooling... well they're probably drooling anyway but that's a different story.

I can see it's a "Ruf-style" front chin, but that's no Ruf part. The genuine Ruf part is a single-piece front bumper + chin, whereas your front bumper is clearly stock Carrera. Just curious as I'd like to find one for my car but don't know who makes them...

Nice looking car, Good luck with the sale.
