Chris,

You should post on the "Introdouche Yourself" post, including a little about yourself and larger photo(s) of your car.

Snoopy, don't let Dr. K scare you off. He is one of our resident pucker checkers, but he is correct. Indtroduce yourself. About your painting, you never know when somebody is going to start throwing paint around and would welcome a chance to practice on your piece before spreading it on their concours baby. Maybe somebody will take pity on a new guy and pipe in with some suggestions. I know one guy that does good work but takes forever and only works on stuff he likes and for people he likes.

How about it fellas, welcome the new guy.

I apologize for the lapse in etiquette. I forgot that this was my first post on this site. So in order to plicate Dr. K here we go.

Here is my car, it's an 85 Targa that I have had for about a year and a half. Last summer I installed a cat by-pass and Steve Wong chip. This summer I am working on the cosmetics a little. I replaced the bumper smile and the accordion rubber pieces. Next is the right side fender. What you can't see in the photo is a rust spot below the headlight. I have a "new" fender, hence the painting request. The photo makes it look better than it really is. This is my third 911 all Targas the first two where '77 vintage. Took a 10 year break between cars.... kids. This is my hobby, with two girls, 7 & 10, I will be spending more and more time in my little garage . I am originally from California with a seven year stop in North Carolina. Been in this area for almost two years and we love it. It's hard with having to take the kids everywhere to get involved but we are trying. Anyway, I don't have the equipment or room to paint and I was just looking to see if anyone is in the process of painting something that would not mind one more fender to paint. If all else fails off the body shop.

Looks to me like you have enough room to do an engine drop.

Chris: You are fortunate to live in the vicinity of several hard-working Dorkis. If you like helping out with projects, or need a hand, you should not have to travel very far. OldTee is wrapping up an engine rebuild, Jazzbass replaces his suspension once a year, etc. PLus if you need a shop, Matt de Maria is also close by.

Ouch. It's funny because it's true.

Welcome Chris. Where in Germantown are you? I'm off Clopper road, almost in Boyds.

I have done an engine drop, by myself and can do almost anything mechanical but I have zero knoweledge when it comes to paint. I have been reading the threads here and on the Pelican site but I must admit I have no clue. The car seems to have a base/clear coat finish now. Used a small amount of polishing compound and did not see any color. So I'm guessing I was polishing the clear? I'm not trying to turn it into a concours car, just presentable. So to answer your question, I guess I don't know enough to answer your question.
