Here's some belated photos from last week. I was too busy working to get a lot of photos. These two guys did most of the work:
![]() ![]() We took these T-bars out of the front of Mike's car. Do you think this should be replaced? Mine was a lot worse, ground down further and chunks rusting off. ![]()

Thanks Steve!
What do you guys think? Replace or just leave alone. Street car. I would only be replacing with like stock bars anyway. Hopefully this project will conclude on Monday. Amazingly, the sway bar bushings were wrong too. FAIL.

So what's wrong with the torsion bars? Is the problem rust?

See the notch near the splines? Rubbing caused it. I can easially POR the exposed metal and reinstall. We were just wondering if it was a good idea or not.

Sure why not, if you're not pushing your car to the point where that little bit of wear will cause any safety issues should be just fine. This could definitely fall into the category of "While you're in there".

Check carefully for tiny holes. Rust goes goes deep but not wide weakening the bar. Perfect stock replacements aren't hard to find.

Replace them. This is not a "POR it and its done". It's a torsion bar, it's designed to twist. Twisting stresses the metal. Guess where it'll fail first?
I might have a replacement bar you can have - I'll need to check. I bet $10 someone here has a set the pulled in order to upgrade.

If you have your front bar, please let me know and what you want for them. Thanks!
