Thanks again guys for the heads up. I stopped by this morning and got it but the only thing is its only good for up to 200 degrees. He mentioned he also sells heat sleeve at $13 a foot Nate, I asked for you and they said they do have them.

I know for some reason you don't want to mail order, but $10 plus shipping would get you xactly what you need from Pegasus in about 3 days.

thanks, didn't have time to call today (as today was a weekday and therefore I was at work, and unfortunately my job is hectic these days) but I did drop them a line from their web site. The guy that responded seemed to think that the compression fittings were OK so I may just go ahead and use them... it certainly would be easier than trying to flare a cut off line up inside the wheel well... basically the whole discussion (and I apologize if this turns into a threadjack) started when I took my car into IMA after it died in a less than optimal location in DC. They correctly diagnosed the problem as a bad coil which had caused an intermittent solder joint in the DME. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to mess with it myself, and it took them quite a while to resolder it. Anyway when I got my car back there was the usual laundry list of "your car is a POS and you should fix this stuff right away" items, and #1 on the list was the cobbled together fuel hose. The guy was really making a big deal out of it, and I do agree that it isn't right (it has worm clamps on it now; I'd prefer the nut-and-bolt type) He had a whole spiel prepared about how 944s were notorious for catching on fire at the track and that the usual culprit was a leaking fuel hose which had obviously been repaired quickly and in someone's backyard before I acquired the car. Their recommended solution was to replace with Porsche factory parts, at a cost on the same order of magnitude as the value of the car, since apparently that hose/steel line assembly is one part from the rear of the car all the way to the front. The guy there seemed to think that just about any kind of clamp and/or compression fitting was highly verboten. I bought these instead: http://pauertuning.com/fuel%20lines.htm and explained what the kit was to the guy (it wasn't Ivan that was working on my car, I forget the guy's name - nice guy, but was dead serious about using only factory parts for the fuel lines) and he bought into that and seemed to think it was an acceptable replacement, but expressed concern about the compression fittings, and said that he'd prefer to see a flare type fitting, which I have the tools to do (at least the ISO type flares, as well as 45 degree double flares on inch-sized lines - I don't have an AN flare tool... yet...) but I have yet to find a metric ISO flare to AN fitting, or indeed any kind of metric tube to AN fitting other than the compression fittings that came with the Pauer kit. I'm thinking that the guy from IMA was just a little overly cautious, and that I should probably just proceed with cutting the lines off and installing the Pauer kit next time I have a warm Saturday to work on the car. nate

As he said, they've seen their share of fuel line fires. Don't know that I would characterize his concerns are being overly cautious. At the track, the fuel lines that go are either the real old originals, or the custom built/ plumbed systems in the dedicated track cars.

so what's the group's opinion? use the compression fittings, or hold out for the elusive ISO flare to -6AN adapter fitting that I can't seem to locate? nate
