Default Does anyone know the number for 9-1-1?

Hi all,

My beautiful new (to me) 1985 Carrera won't start, and I have maxed out my tech skills by swapping out the DME relay. If anyone in the Dupont/Logan area could help me determine if spark or fuel is the problem, I would be soooooo grateful.

Thank you, P-Car People!

Tony

Does it do anything at all? Click, try to start or turn the key and nothing? Is the battery good?

When mine did that (which it did intermittently for 5 years!) it turned out to be the flywheel sensors. It ALWAYS started easily while roll-starting, even when it wouldn't catch while cranking.

Is it cranking normally or does it seem slow?

definitely normal cranking. i never hold it for more than 5 seconds or so trying to get it to fire, but in that span the crank speed doesn't slow down.

I had this problem recently in my 993. Same symptoms as you. I changed the DME, no help. Finally took it to a local shop and the tech told me he thought it was the flywheel sensor but when they got it up on the lift, they found a loose wire and reconnected it and that solved the problem.

if you are getting spark and fuel, and the dme is healthy, i've pretty much reached the end of my expertise.

look up stuff on that sensor and see if swapping it changes things.

l.stroup,
tell us where that wire was.

Sorry I wasn't there to see it but was lead to believe it was running along under the car somewhere near where they were looking for the flywheel sensor.

}{ - i haven't actually ruled out spark and fuel as the possible problem. i don't have the skillz or the gear to check. can you lend a brother a hand with that?
