Default Speed trap de enhancer?

Someplace, or perhaps it was a dream, I heard there was a photo sensitive spray that could be used on licence plates that foiled cameras. Is it true? Where is it sold (no guesses here)? What is it specifically called? I heard it was $40 a can. True? How many plates will a can cover? Any other helpful information apreciated.

There was a recent thread on Peliican that mentioned a couple of different brands. It got to be a long thread so there should be all the info you need.

It's called Photoblocker and I think it's widely available in MD. There are others too. Do a search in the Wash. Post archives from about 2-3 wks. ago. They had a big article on it.

The show I saw said that anything that blocks or obscures the plate including for imaging is not legal in MD and DC. Both have wording directly ruling anything like this stuff out. VA legal with no wording ruling it out.

The show did say that it is hard to see that the stuff was used on a plate. (I ghuess tha cop could snap a dig picture and check to see if it is overreflective) They also said that it works somewhat but if the imaging company wants to they could shift the brightness down on a dig image and likely get the plate #.

Default so many options to chose from....

i'm having trouble imaging this stuff.... well, i guess we all want to cover ourselves in goo.....hm.
but do you want to use this to speed, or run redlights? because getting caught w/it, on film, and getting the double whammy fine! well, not in VA YET, but if youre not aloud to have radar detectors in VA.....guess what's coming. but i'm sure you wouldnt be using this to run red lights....after all, the Greatest way to be cought running a red light, is by having someone SMASH into you. not a pretty sight. and kinda dum. As for speeding, isnt the cop just going to stop you? 'hey...tht's purty paint you gots on that thar license plate.....now spread um! we're just checking for mor paint....' does this new paint fall under the same category that i've seen those Hundai's painted in? ya-know, the 2 tone that's orange and green? i guess every gadget has it's place. let me know when i can get in on my coffee mug/flask for work!

I've been told by someone who has been through the experience that the easiest way to get out of a photo-ticket is to simply send in a letter stating that although the car is registered to you, you were not driving at the time the photo was taken and you don't know who was, since multiple people have access to your car. The company that the local law enforcement outsource this camera collection system to will then discharge the ticket, as it's too expensive for them to spend 30 minutes of someone's time trying to prove you wrong. They simply move on to opening the next envelope and depositing the check.

Save your money on the paint.

I don't run red lights, but I have gotten stuck in the intersection, trying to make a left or U turn, when an oncoming car would slow, then speed up and I'd be there for split second after the light turned. Last time that happened, the camera just got the side of the car. But I will buy the Photoblocker to defeat those fat, lazy bums who man the radar camera Crown Vic's on 295 near Bolling AFB. That is the biggest joke. Sat. I was driving up there and, like clockwork, there were the Crown Vics. In one the cop was sound asleep with his head drooped down. All cars would slow for a brief second and then speed up. Never mind fixing the lunar road surface or going after the cars weaving with a duct taped bumper and no tail lights. Those tix are all about revenue and have nothing to do with safety. I will proudly buy Photoblocker to defeat them and no cop in VA will ever know it's on there.

I am conflicted about this photoblocker stuff. My first draw out of the holster was "get it quick." But, after some reflection I wonder if it is the right thing to do. First, it has limited value. If you don't race around the major benefit would be to protect yourself from a momentary laspe in attention while descending a hill in DC or forgetting a road capable of 45 is posted for 25. However, it is against the law and therefore you put it there at the peril of being caught. While the risk may be low, the thought of driving around with a scofflaw red flag flying is tension building. My goal lately is to reduce tension so I can save it for Summit Point. There is also the urge to keep just anybody from identifying me, kinda like my Constitutional right to privacy. Now that is really a stupid argument, who in world would care who drives a beat down black Prosche called ARF, and what in the world would they do with the information. Guess I'll pass on this stuff for now.
