Seiko Kinetic works for me. Thirty bucks when I bust out the crystal in the shop. Do that often enough so it gets “cleaned” regularly too. Men’s jewelry (watches and lighters) never did get it, but what ever pounds your bud

There's a new version out:

Monaco Vintage Limited Edition

"The latest iteration of the iconic square dial originally made famous by Steve McQueen, pays tribute to the Porsche-Gulf 917K racecar featured in the legendary cult film "Le Mans." Beyond cool, this 2007 limited edition piece has a black dial with orange and blue stripes, vintage "GULF" logo at 6 o'clock and matching black alligator strap with orange stitching."

Anything with the Gulf paint job is hot.

Watches like fine cars and (for me) hi-fi are all analagus. Fine instruments which do an amazing job at what they do. I find it interesting.

For watches, I also have my Tag 2000 and my grandfathers old Wittnauer hand wind-up.

I have a Porsche Design 3H Nato Military Chronograph which I happen to use as my club event piece; its automatic and sits in what Arlequin is searching for as a father's day gift. I too also have a vintage watch, its a Gruen automatic I inherited from my grandfather.

some of the modern ones are very nice watches and knowing japanese attention to detail they're also very well made w/ high level of precision. i have a seiko diver on a nato strap (poor man's bond watch ) and am still looking for another but more rare model... 'SUS 4S15'

it is a deceptively simple design that hides just how much thought went into it. the black and white diagram shows how each function was deemed progressively more important, the date is integrated into the '4'o'clock position etc etc... they sell at a premium (if you manage to find one)

Since this thread has drifted away from its topic (car related watches), I thought I would share a picture of the only watch I have ever wanted but failed to buy.

The irony of Che's iconic image on a cheap-assed swatch, along with the hands coming out of his nose, has always struck me as tremendously funny. I saw it while I lived in Europe and funds were tight, and I assumed, incorrectly, that I would be able to find one once I moved back to the states. Oh well. Still good for a chuckle. Can you say pwned? Oh well, at least his watch has hands still . . .

I use the Underwood Rotobox single...

... to keep my Glycine Airman SST06 running. It's the new re-issue of the original Glycine Airman. Kind of nifty because it's a 24h dial, plus its water resistant to 200 meters - makes it a great dive watch as well.

My 'vintage' watch is a Patek Philippe from the 80's.

Here's an easy to fina alternative to Dave's beauty..

http://www.skywatches.com.sg/watches...roducts_id=350

My pop gave me his old Heuer Carrera that I had cleaned up a few years ago. It's a special piece so I dont wear it all that much, but whenever I do I appreciate it. I didnt get the watch thing until I wore his watch, hard to compare it with the modern stuff. The good thing is, there are a ton of alternative at whatever price you want to spend.

Single is $400, dunno what the triple goes for. Mine has no adjustments, but it has some sort of logic built into it. Sometimes it rotates faster, other times slower, sometimes it just sits there. Never stared at it long enough to figure out the pattern. There's two LED's on the front, a red and a green. Sometimes they blink, other times not. Maybe I should read the directions for once. It's supposed to be one of the better brands of winders so maybe adjustable movement is available on a different model? (mine is the very basic one).

You're welcome to borrow it for a few days if you want to check it out.
