You might point out to Cindy that you met Ben at Jefferson Circuit, driving my 911, and he'll be doing a DE in mid-June. He's only 18.

My first car was a 1980 Mercedes 240D with a 67 hp four cylinder diesel. Slow and tank like. I wrecked it 5 times badly and walked away from each one. I still have the grill in the basement. I loved that car. I stopped driving like that after I started paying my own insurance Until the Boxster I didn't have much else very notable.

Dad on the other hand had some excellent machines. I talked him into his first 911 in 1986. He bought a white 1984 Carrera cab. He took it in for service one day in 1988 and came home with a white 911 turbo cab. He's impatient that way. When he pulled into the garage with it my jaw just hit the floor. He asked me if I thought mom would notice it was a different car since it was the same color. I said she'd never notice but alas she did. She's over it now.

He also bought and restored a 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Coupe. It was his favorite car as a young man. Funny to look at next to our suburban at the time because it is as wide and long and was a "sport coupe"

He has also had a string of S class coupes which are very nice including this 04 CL55 pictured below that exploded. A loose hydraulic line was the culprit. Fire department had a field day with the axes. The dealership took care of things and he picked up his new CLS63 last week.

What the heck is an NSU or a Dellow? Have you got pictures of any of these? Next DE get your dad to come with a photo album.

Of course it makes me wonder why you are so slow with all the racing blood in you veins. I guess the apple landed under the tree then rolled down the hill across the highway down the valley into the lake over the falls through the bay into the gulf and well you get the point

I think you could say i was brought up with sports cars. Our family vacations consisted of trips to Bridgehampton, Watkins Glen, Danville, Sebring, and Marlboro raceway. I will have to buy a scanner for some of the old photos.
Wow! Growing up must have been fun. My dad never cared much for motorsports. He was an immigrant with little education, but worked his butt off! I spent many weekends and summers working with him. When I was growing up, we had primarily work vans to ride in. Until my mom got her license, and he bought a used 1970 Impala 4-door for her. Unfortunately....I beat the poor car to a pulp. My folks have been thru 2 Honda Accords; the first, an '84, was totalled the same week he also totalled his van (that was NOT a good week....). My dad passed away in '99, and my mom still drives the '94 Accord....which currently has barely 10K miles on the clock!

I have a scanner, and would be willing to help digitize some of your stuff. PM me if you want to try and organize something.

I've always had it in my blood. just not my checkbook having 3 kids by the time i was 24 years old put a real damper in my ability to partake in motorsports. But now it's " game on " brother ....

Did you ask your WIFE if it was OK to do Shennandoah next month ?
