hey guys we'll make it a mellow ride as far as ski area riding goes i raced downhill for 3 years and it is not for the faint at heart however if anyone is interested i have 2 downhill/freeride bikes(santa cruz bullit med ellsworth joker lg)to lend and yes jazz it does get quite costly (3 grand and up for a ski area worthy mount) patapsco is close to me but i'd be up for trying anything i also have 2 additional bikes if }{ or anyone else needs to borrow

Oh, I don't think its a cheap hobby by any stretch. Just cheaper by comparison. Read this thread and you'll understand where I'm coming from

While I'm wont say you should go to Wallymart for a bike, no way you have to spend 1k to get a great bike. So many people buy a bike, ride it twice then stick in the back room. I picked up a great bike this winter for half price. It's 2-3 yrs old and the nipples are still on the tires, basically in new condition.

Best bet is to borrow a bike and come out for a few hours. If you want to make the trek to Potaspco, 10 minutes from BWI, I'll show you every trail I know. I guarantee you'll have a great time and maybe even burn off a few lbs.

yep chump change compared to car stuff and yes i agree you can get a decent bike for riding bike paths and fire roads on the cheap but you wont catch this fat guy riding lift serviced trails on a 1000$ bargain bike one frame failure at speed is one to many

You laugh, but its one of the perks of riding w/ a group of women. I don't mind 'sweeping' once in a while (the one who goes last to make sure no one breaks down/wrecks.) EXCELLENT view of the fauna

+1 on that comment... no other reason than imagery but let's just make sure noah doesn't post his cyclists picture
