This thread is interesting. I figure I have spent well over $100K in my 10+ years of DE's, but that includes a car that retains virtually nothing of its original self except the VIN tag. Four engines, three gearboxes, five or six clutches, enough tires that, if laid end to end, would encircle the earth, enough brake pads to stop a locomotive, six different suspension systems, and a color change. Hell, I even once sold the damn thing and bought it back!

It must be worth the $100K to you just to watch your daughter drive!

Teresa had the chance to trade up and wasted it. She is a great lady with poor taste in men. Whipped? If this is whipped Whip away. I am living right out of the 50s with the best of now added

Absolutely! Although it was with some consternation that I watched her spin it in the rain at Mid Ohio and come to rest some five feet from the concrete.

I've spent all my money on cars and guitars. The rest I've wasted.

$100k in 10 years Yikes....I'm gonna have to do some serious splainin to do justify that kinda cash. Anybody need some service work? On your cars that is. I could see a couple $300-$500 weekends a season though.

Good luck on the $300 weekend -- that covers entry fee and *maybe* gas. Brakes, tires, oil, food, etc. will push it over $400 easy, even with a 'stock' car. And that doesn't include repair costs when things break...

If you're doing it for the first time in green, $300-350 is probably about right. Assuming of course your car has brakes, tires and oil when you show up. Unless you're hell on wheels, I doubt you'll burn through any of those items. If you have a garage queen, budget in $10 for a roll of tape. Don't know how much food you eat.

Barrier to entry is low, addiction is where is gets spendy.
