Angry ****2.0 914 Type IV head****

Hey Guys,

The rebuild on my 912E engine ran into a snag. One of the heads is not rebuild-able, dropped intake seat, one of the spark plug holes is cracked and the other plug hole has an insert, so this head is shot. The other head has no issues. So I’m looking for a used 2.0 914 head in rebuild-able condition. Ideally with no cracks but I’m willing to consider something that can be repaired. Any leads are appreciated.

Regards,

do you need a head with the threaded hole for the CHT or not? i thought that since these heads are Al, they could be welded up and fixed. Raby has a partner, Len Hoffman, who is supposed to be his head man. maybe he could fix it.... keep us posted.

Bill,

Thanks for the offer, here is a list of stuff that I need please check the spare parts stash and let me know if you have anything.

914 fuel rail
Type IV alternator bracket
York to Sanden A/C mounting bracket

Also need a rebuild-able 2.0 Type IV head, any leads are appreciated.

Stephen,

I already have a post on 914world but I thought I would check here as well. Hershey in three weeks, are you kidding I want to have this car back on the road! LOL

Jim,

Ideally I’m looking for the head WITHOUT the CHT hole. The one head is so far gone that it does not make economic since to attempt a repair. I figure that as long as I’m looking I might as well settle for a head that does not need to be repaired, just rebuilt!

BTW: Hoffman starts at $500.00 for a stock 2.0 head rebuild and that does not include any repair work.

Keep the ideas coming; this can’t be the last 2.0 Type IV head on the planet.

I have a bracket that was on my motor that held my A/C compressor. It is kind of a bracket that held a bracket. But if you can use it it's yours. If I remember I will get the part # tonight.

Make sure you get PORSCHE 2.0L Type IV heads.. .VW Bus heads are not a good replacement.

I have a full 1.8 engine that was bored out for the big pistons. P & Cs are still brand new never been used. The case is right of the shop. Let me know if interested.
