Default Replacing Sunroof Seals

I am replacing my sunroof seals and need to know the best way to trim the rubber cord inside the velvet strips so that they can overlap. Tried a search but no help, anyone BTDT?

No trimming necessary. The seal will just flatten down properly when the sunroof is closed.

The early sunroofs in the 60's and 70's trimmed the seals (front and rear) at 45 degrees so that when the roof closed, the angles simply butted up against each other and sealed completely.
