Dave not reading the book and pitching a S-fit is more the MO of some of the indi shop crews or a new or almost new drover.

As to TRG and their car at VIR, that is not what I remember at all. Buckler was tip top helpful and class act to me and the crew 100%.
I tend remember when drovers act high and mighty at CR, as we then get make great easy side hurting fun of them after they go away using laugh ammo they freely give to us during our oh so short times together. CR has just enough A holes for me to have drawn the conclusion that the ones that have the shifter up their ass are not the fast ones. Rich at times perhaps but not the rich and fast. I also have found that rich does not mean A-hole, that crosses all financial and social lines. Most (99%) of the drivers are cool and there to have a good time and go with the program but some think they are at F1 or something. The self chosen few tend to stick out. In fact it comes to no suprise to me but the guys that are the most experenced and best drivers and have the well preped cars are the ones that understand the global idea of CR, are easy to deal with and are helpful during whatever it is we have to be doing. Short answer Class Acts.
IIRC Buckler had #66 and #67 at VIR at that event. #67 had some issues on track. My memory is fuzzy on just what went on but I think it involved loosing the rear valance in Nascar or nearby from one of more than one off. VIR was a wet sloppy weekend that PCA split with Rolex.

Rod graciously offered to let me drive the RS and I could not turn him down. He is truly a class act and I can't tell him how much I appreciate it.

I meant to take the car for only a few laps and not push it. Well I couldn't help myself. It was an absolute joy and incredibly easy to drive. It's also the most communicative car I've ever driven and had more power (especially at the upper end) than I expected. I don't think I'll ever forget it and it sure has me thinking about older lightweight 911s. I didn't (out of respect and the fear of damage) drive it anywhere near the limit- but I swear the car begged me to.

Ironically, I drove a 997S for the first time that day too. While there is a common character (way down there) it seemed to me that the new models have just pushed the limits incredibly higher- and rely on electronics and vastly improved tires etc. for control. Don't get me wrong I loved the 997- it's a wonderful car too- but somehow the RS seemed to do more with less.

#66 is probably an even more special car than his RS Touring and some day it will be worth a bundle. Rod knows how to pick 'em. Of course, he may have to wait 20 years for #66 to really pay off (not that he needs the cash ).
