IMO, forget the oil drain pans. These are meant for normal cars without dry sump oil tanks. I jack up the rear of the car, put it on 6 ton SUV jackstands, and drain the oil into a 5 gal bucket I got from Home Depot. Same with draining the block. In all, almost 3 gal of oil come out, and the mouth of the back being higher than the drain pans means that you won't miss or spill. When done, snap the lid on the bucket and take it to the oil recycling center. I've changed the oil in my car 3 times since I've owned it, and never spilled a drop during a change. Now, leaking between changes is another issue.

It currently has Castrol 20-50...should I change or continue to use it?
When I bought my SC I had no drips with Pennzoil(what the PO used). I did my first oil change with dino Castrol 20W 50. Using this oil, I noticed a significant amount of oil leaks that weren't there before. So, the next time I changed the oil with Pennzoil and the drips went away.
This is a good thread with some interesting discussion:

I use Valvoline 20W-50 Racing formula, FWIW. Makes me feel like a real race car driver .

I use Mobil 1 15/15 from day one, at least that's what the receipts say from the PO. Since I always use Mobil 1 from my other past cars, I stuck with it. No leaks. I tried Mobil 1 filter based on what I saw in a race car watching Speed. But will be going back Mahle's since it's cheaper and recommeded by the factory. It's probably the built in valve.

The P.O. used Castrol 20W50 and hadn't experienced any problems. Should I go with another brand and/or weight at the next oil change? I plan to stick with the Mahle filter.

Is the Mahle filter different than the black one I bought at the dealer? What does the built in valve do? Where do you all buy the Mahle filter?
