I got to watch this from the infield grandstands. Really amazing. Much like watching Leh at the Watkins Glen clubrace, he makes it look easy. Gotta love when he uses one had to drive the banking after coming out of the bus stop.

1:49.9? That's scary quick. Something like 25 seconds faster than my best lap at Daytona.

Leh is one talented puppy! When he was driving with the Freidman team last year, I used to get their in-car tapes and data. Some of the 'moments' and recoveries were almost unbelievable. His reflexes and thinking were way ahead of the car, even when things were going very pearshaped. Nice thing is how flat out enthusiatic he is. He takes tons of terrific photos at most race meetings, and I'm told he is very well regarded in the paddock.

As soon as I saw his hand go off of the wheel, I thought, "He took his hand off of the wheel because he knew he would be posting the vid on Rennlist and that everyone would ooh and ahh over his casualness and aplomb."

I admire the talent but not the contrivance.

I don't believe the one-hand driving is for the camera. He did it on the previous lap as well. He's hard on 2nd gear syncros though. Grinds 2nd gear in both clips.

i found larry's video much more fun and exciting to watch. really good stuff, especially when you can relate to how hard he is working to keep moving at that pace. wish he had a better rearview mirror so we could see some of the action before they catch him.

i think leh is good, he will probably follow the same carreer path as van overbeek, but what the one hand thing really shows me is how user friendly those cars are. at those speeds that bank is quite bumpy and you just couldn't pull that off in an earlier car, esp w/o pwr steering. nice quality of the video too.

senna once said that to get a good qualifying lap there, you practically had to rub off the letterig off the sidewalls.
thanks!
