I think you will find that Steve Timmins (instant G) will have the best price and offer the best advice. He is the customer service there is no one else, and he really knows his way around Porsche Products.
Tell him Marc from Virginia suggested that you call and don't worry about the sudden eruption of laughter

I have a chip from Cyntex in my car, and it works pretty well. The engine will still hunt for proper idle at times, especially when cold. My car does not have A/C and I don't use it on the street, so the drawbacks of the lightweight flywheel are minimized.
Based on personal experience, I would strongly recommend not doing business with Joe Fabiani (aka Fabspeed). False claims, faulty products, abysmal customer service - if you want to know the details, buy me a beer some time. Paul Schwartz (sp?) is the owner of Cyntex, he is in West Chester, PA and I dealt with him directly (610-738-8804). You can pay the price for the chip, or for a little more he will dyno tune a custom chip for your car. |

Has anyone heard of anyone installing a factory 3.8L RSR chip into their 964?? What are the outcome? Hows the durability in the long run?

Just to wrap up this topic - I ended up installing a Cyntex chip about 2 weeks ago ($350 direct from Cyntex). It appears to have solved my idle hunting/stalling issue and add a bit of extra kick above 3000 RPM. The only down side I've noticed is that it requires a little more cranking to fire up the engine when cold. Overall, it appears to be a good solution to my light weight fly wheel idlling problem.
Thank you for your advice and help! Scott |
