There are 3 or 4 bulbs in the speedo IIRC. Pull it out toward you - gently - and see if all the leads are attached.

If the bulbs have never been replaced they can be snug and require some finesse to get them out, but they're cheap and easy to replace.

While you're at it - replace them all across the dash - you'll be surprised at the improvement

Friction fit in the dash. They just slide forward with the aid of longish fingernails.

It's often easier to remove the clock first then push the speed-o out from the back. If burned out don’t leave the bulb out. Without the bulb its possible for the wire to ground out on the fixture. Which can result in the wire melting.

I've done this several times. You can use a flat tip or a butter knife to jimmy the gauge out. You may want to cover the end of whichever tool you use with some duct tape. I'd bring a pad of paper and draw a very clear diagram of which wire goes where before you start disconnecting wires. I would use a very thin wedge like a butter knife to get the bulb sockets out of the back of the gauge.
