FTD all the time I wish! How 'bout just one time in my life! I know it won't happen if you show up (unless I adjust your tire pressures when you're not looking).

I have looked at the official PCA website but it didn't answer my questions. What can those that have never done this expect? Is there a map showing the direction to go around the cones? I mena we all know what SP is like, how to do research online?

How many runs will we get?

Steve
There is no set course. The course will change from parking lot to parking lot. The runs usually only last about 1 min each and your run group will usually take 5-6 runs at a time. The runs are short blasts of speed and braking that help you improve your car control skills in a small confined area. Believe it or not, it is quite fun.

Steve,

Here is a link that has some good information...it is from the SCCA perspective, but is very similar to what happens at our PCA Autocrosses.

http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm

If you decide to participate, hook up with an experienced AX'er and walk the course with them and have them point out the conventions that are used to communicate information to drivers through cone placement. Mick (HOV-2), racer, Michael, myself, and many others would be happy to help, I'm sure.

Steve,
A course map will be made on a big board and you'll be able to walk the course a few times to get familiar with it. There is a pretty good tutorial on autocrossing at the main PCA website. You get to it via the "Autocross" link about halfway down the site's home page.
Since it will be your first time, tell them at registration that you don't want to be in the first heat (run group). That will give you a chance to watch what others do.
Oh, something else to expect: This year lunch is included in the registration fee.

As long as it isn't a horse that just lost a race
