Default Summit Point Kart?

The posted a weird tweet linking to a dead facebook post about "something being up...." Anyone know?

Speaking of Karts, someone is opening a karting facility in the Manassas Mall.

Crap ass attitude and all arouNd dick of a manager.....or maybe too many lifetime bans....breathilizers with the threat of any reading lifetime ban from summit point..not just karts even though the board just says no drinks an hour before.....

I could be biased....

Karts and track were still awesome...just customer experience was horrible to the point I and many others stopped goin

Not to add to rumors but wasn't it run by Bill Scott's grandson (edit) son?

Makes the scoop all that more interesting...has to be better than the crap on Bravo my wife watches

I have to think it was the customer service that was their undoing. Track and location was easily one of the best kart tracks I've ever driven. Even the karts themselves weren't terrible (better than those at VIR, at least!).

But, isn't Jens the son of Bill Scott who owned the track? Does the family still own it? So the property is there....how does this end up like this? Family squabble?

The earlier stories I had heard, shortly after Bill Scott's passing, was that Jens, Bill's son, was trying to run all of Summit Point. But his primary interest seemed to be in the go-kart operation, which was a money maker for him, with minimal effort. His mom supposedly was unhappy with how he was managing the rest of Summit Point, and eventually separated the operations. Jens ran SPK, and she pursued other resources to run the tracks. Fast forward to now, sounds like Jens and mom may have separated even further. I wonder if there was some leasing arrangment for the SPK property that maybe fell apart. The posted FB (?) "announcement" sadly sorta sounds like Jens.

I wonder now if a new karting operation will be created. Or will the land be converted to some other use.

Originally, it was supposed to be a multi-purpose skid pad/training facility (Washington Circuit). In fact, we used it a couple of times for PorscheFest Autox. But eventually, the karting operation was so "successful" that renting Washington Circuit for autox purposes became prohibitively expensive (the Jefferson Circuit could be rented for around $1,500, versus the $10K he wanted to displace SPK for a day). IMHO, if the property is converted back to skip pad style usage, I think it would be beneficial to the car clubs, because it would allow A LOT MORE skid pad time and training for participants.

Also before SPK, I'll mention that one of our PorscheFest Autox's was scheduled a week or two after Washington Circuit had been used for a "drifting" event as part of DiaperFest. Apparently, a lot of car-to-car contact was taking place, because areas of the pavement were covered in broken glass. Was a real PIA for us to clean up, without any real response or help from Jens.

I wasn't there, but I read something like it's Evan's fault because he showed up drunk and was effing with customer service. I didn't hear it first hand, but his wife saw it on Bravo and went housewives of WV on him because of his proximity of his face to customer service's boobs.

Again, I wasn't there, but I hear it was family squabble of some kind
