Has anyone used tire van on their air cooled car? My buddy has an appointment with them and he asked are they used to working on "exotics". The guy said he does everything including Ferrari, etc. I told my friend to be careful as a misplaced jack will crush your oil line.
Anyone have feedback on Tire Van experience in jacking up air cooled cars?

I've had two experiences with TireVan, neither of them good.
Last May, the tech moved the wheel weights from outside to inside my Fuchs without asking...and in November, we had big problems when they installed winter tires on our M3. The TPMS was improperly set, and the wheel weights were also badly installed. I'd definitely seek an alternative.

I've used them 2X + and had no problems. I was "around" and the tech showed me the tires readout on the machine, rotated a tire on a rim, swapped L and R side rubber on other track tires, put the weights where I wanted them, etc....
Was very convenient for me, all work done at my house and I could continue to work on other things (cars) while it was going on. FWIW |

I've only used them once.. to change some runflats on the family van. Apparently the tech wasn't used to the runflats because he broke his own machine. Quick reschedule and the next time (the 2nd attempt) worked out great.
Other than Radial Tire (in Silver Spring?) which for me is 1hr each way, I don't know of a tire guy I truly trust near me. I used curry's though 1-2 times and while more expensive than I preferred, the service was good. I would think if you offered/showed them the jack pad and how to use it, it shouldn't be an issue.

x2 on the jackpad -- you should have it there available, and insist they use it to change the tires on one side of the car at a time.
I've used Tire van twice, and both times I jacked up the car and pulled the wheels while the tech changed the tires. No problems with the weights; they go where they need to go. Working with the tech allowed me to tape over the weights before reinstalling the wheels.

I used them a couple of times, no problems. They do have the Hunter 9700 road force computerized balancing machine which is first class. I had some problem tires that others couldn't balance, but that machine did.
Only drawback for me was I had to travel to Gaithersburg to meet the truck because they don't come to my area. |

Used then twice now. Once for the 996 another for the Audi S4. Not a single issue. Excellent work. The tech that did my work now is is at the new Curry's in Sterling. Had him mount some snows on my Dad's MB. Again, perfect work.
