Default Clutch cable replacement question

Looks like detaching the spring on the clutch pedal itself would provide better access to the lever and clevis hidden in that hell-hole.

Is this a bad idea?

Oops, never mind.
I found that by detaching the cable at the clutch first, the pedal and lever move forward by themselves, making the clevis much more accessible.
