http://www.floydsrepairables.com/ima...nks/13110l.htm Crazy idea: What do you guys think of using a repaired GT2 as a daily and just driving the wheels off it? I've talked to the seller and ran the carfax so heres some important data: Carfax: * early 2004, 6700mi, Porsche "reacquired" the car (buyback for "engine concern, brake concern") * late 2004 was resold and driven by next owner until now (11kmi) and wrecked in 08? * Has been for sale since late 08 Dealer: * Car "runs and drives" but is leaking at one of the front radiators. It will obviouslly need a new bumper, radiator, and whatever else is in under there. * Heres the big one: When talking to them he says it has a minor "wrinkle" on the pass rear quarter panel under the C-pillar. I can't see it in any of the pics but the car might be slightly tweaked. (Same accident damage? Previous repaired damage??) * The salesman seems to know NOTHING about porsches so they're not too helpfull. My thoughts: * Is a car typically fixed if it was reaquired/buyback? I suspect a new GT2 owner would be very picky. Could have been a minor (recurring) issue or not. * I don't mind the branded title or ever minor crash damage. It'll be a driver after all (as in like 15k+mi/yr.) * Harnesses: looks likes it been on the track some * Current shop is a repair joint. Why don't they fix it? Though, they seem to only sell cars that need repair so maybe they just buy @ auction & flip to DIY'ers? * Why am I always drawn to "project cars"? Bottom line: Is it worth getting it towed to a dealer for a PPI if I can talk him down to, say, mid 40's? That would basically be 996tt money and trading buyback/accident for a GT2 badge, seats, X50, PPCBs, rollbar, etc. Im guessing a couple $k for a new bumper/radiator. If nothing else major is wrong and it aligns, I can prob live w/ a 'wrinkle'. Wish is was closer.

I would look at a parts diagram and price the bumper cover and right bumper support, radiator, fans, hoses, brackets that hold all these on the passenger side and see what the parts total cost is. I would want to know that number before paying for a PPP.

there are only 200 997 GT2's in this country. How many 996 GT2s? I mean if you got the cash to waste why not?

Me; crazy enough to think about this all the time too. The wrinkle scares me off a bit. The front stuff is a no brainer but without seeing it you don't know.
I would love the power of a GT2 with the seats/harness and brakes but with my current suspension. Wow!
