It's probably the ladders that are holding the two halves of the truck together.

Not a nice story. Sounds like a pretty bad idea to me - put a 0/0 experience 15 year old on a race track with no instruction. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ime-track.html. Not to mention, it was at Bubba Raceway Park. Whatever the heck that is.

Even duct tape can't fix stupid... but it can muffle the sound!

Wow What track would even allow this? A 15 yr barely even has a learner's permit in most states.

There are a LOT of kids racing these days. 14 year olds in F2000 cars racing with SCCA is not uncommon.

SCCA lets 16 year olds into their comp school with zero track days of experience. My girls started doing DEs at 15, but that was with an instructor in the car, not a time trial.

Slightly OT: At Road Atlanta they ran a PDX during the Sunday "quiet" period (10-12) and I was shocked to see that they ran without any corner workers. I suppose they had spotters around the track, but the flagger buckets were empty. This was on a damp track. On guy balled up his 370Z pretty badly. His repair bill will probably buy an SRF.

This is sad. My thoughts are with the family.

If this sort of thing becomes too common place I can see more stringent regulation and insurance fees being thrust upon the sport. I'm all for training kids, but some of this seems reckless from the stories as presented.
