He is one lucky guy! That doesn't look like a very smart place to land a helicopter (lots of guy wires and such) but I am not an expert.

Thanks Bob, one good thing is that all the parts tend to fly away from you.
Landing in that confined space was hopefully necessary. Wires are extremely difficult to judge distance from, I know I used to spray under them regularly, only one I ever hit was due to sun and against a dark background, never knew it was there till the rotor blades cut it! Looks like his seat back collapsed as well. With a 34 ft diameter rotor, I could space less than 4 inches each side.

The forces in play are frightening. When that main rotor hit something, the entire airframe rocked, and the tail snapped like a twig. Kudos to the construction guys who clambered up there so quickly without even knowing if the wreck was stable.
