Keith, sorry to hear of your misfortunes. I was actually thinking that the ferry would be closed too.
Chris, I don't believe I saw your car there...did you make it?

We only ran into a few sprinkles on the way but the weather was nice the whole time. The turnout was fairly light which allowed for a very low key concours (I was one of the two judges!). We got second in the people's choice (ended up being one person's choice, rather than people's choice but what the heck).

We had a good time and I only snapped a few photos.. PCA Picnic

I was there - my car was parked in the rear parking lot (beige 85 Carrera). I don't remember meeting you there, but I did talk quite a bit to the guy that owned the blue 71 sitting next to your car. We had a good time, but I would have liked to see a better turn out. My guess is that the majority of the PCA guys are in NoVA, and going into MD scares them . Not a very good turn out from the guys on the board, either, sadly.

The picnic was a good time. Only had a few spinkles on the way there. Food was great, Hambergers, dogs, b-b-q and two kegs. Lots of nice cars. Greg, Eric and Chris showed up. I showed my car, took first in the show and shine. My freind David the other guy who judged with Dan, who was up from Va beach in his '89 C-4 took 3rd in the show and shine. Greg showed his as well, not sure how he did. I thought more people would show up. However, the weather was a bit iffy. I beat the guy who beat me last year. Finished the day off with a Georgetown Pike run. Over all, a good day of Porsche!

I went last year and had a good time, but just couldn't find the time this past weekend. Instead, I changed the oil in my Carrera on Sunday and left only a smallish oil spill in the driveway.

Several of us from NoVa did somehow find our way to the tech session at Autotherapy in Maryland on Saturday, though our route was not the most direct one possible.

Richard bled his brakes and put up with comments from just about everybody warning him not to do any mods to that new 993 of his. George showed up with his Carrera, two days after it arrived by truck from Texas, I think. He put up with all of us going over every inch of the car, which seemed to be in very nice shape with only a few minor issues. Counsellor Astore was there as well and finally got the install on his new lexan fabricated duck tail, but then had to remove it lest he be charged with 'racing' at home.

Did any of our Dorkiphus representatives in the car wash-and-shine bring home a trophy?

I wanted to go but was finishing up my new hardtop, then had to move stuff in the house--we just had our floors refinished. Of course, I finished the top on the first day in two months that I didn't need it. I had hoped to put some photos of the process up on Pelican last night but got distracted by a movie. Hopefully will post tonight.

Oops. Just read Mackpipes and saw he took first place. I should have known that without asking. Congrats, Ted. Anytime you're ready to detail my car, just come on over.

Bill,
A car wash get together might be fun. Turn it into a wash, grill and beer event. I was surprised they chose my car to win. I think they took into consideration it was a daily driver. This week is going to be a ballbuster up here. Give me a call and I'll give you the scoop.

I got 3rd in the show-and-shine, wash-n-show, drink-n-go... Whatever it was called. Even got a cute little plaque to show alongside my low horsepower award!

Darn! I shoulda gone. I didn't make it out of bed until noon and then I was stuck at IHOP until 2:00, trying to rehydrate and remember what happened the previous night.

Tech session was awesome. My brake and clutch pedals feel sooo awesome now. Someone scratched my car!!!! Someone leaned on the front hood while I was bleeding and they put a 2" scratch near the hood seam. It's gonna have to get repaired, as it's too deep to buff out. I thought a tech session would be the last place for something like this to happen.

George's car is super nice. Someone rear-ended him later in the day and now his decklid is messed up. He got the insur. info and is on top of it. But man, what a buzzkill.
