Cuisinart grind and brew is a wonderful inexpensive machine. We also have the press, the expresso maker, and about 5 other coffee making contraptions . It always comes back to convenience.

Me. Mr.Coffee or whatever drip maker that is cheap when the last one pot gets cracked and Folgers 3 pound can from costco. Takes a good 30 seconds to fill the pot and stuff in a filter and some ground coffee. Used to do the pressure, packed fresh grind, levers and froth with just a touch of Madagascar cinnamon bit. meh, life is short a cupa joe is a cupa joe, I gots stuff to do.

Wife. Tassimo by Braun. Slick little one cupper that reads a barcode on the pod thing. Tailors the brew via a water and an air pump. Brews the coffee and makes a foam when needed.

also easy to clean up. a plus for someone like me who doesn't like cleaning.
+1 - we saw the Keurig when we visited Green Mountain Coffee in Vermont back in July and liked the concept. Our old Krupps died last week, and the wife picked up a Keurig on sale at Macy's. So much nicer than having to clean out the old coffee pot and filter! Lots of choices for great tasting coffee, too.

I have a drip machine at home but use a small french press at work. Easy to clean out with hot water, makes a good cup of bean, cheap. It does leave some grinds and dust in the cup, so you have to drink carefully when you get to the bottom.

Wow, thanks for the info. I didnt realize coffee was so personal. I like the idea of a $1500 espresso machine but would rather pay the mortgage this month. I need to find a coffee shop to try some different stuff soon or I fear I'll be back to diet coke.

I'll give the press a trial run, I bet it's not last one I try.

FWIW, I discovered something about coffee while on our cruise last summer. Royal Carribean serves either basic coffee swill (for free) or Seattle's Best (for a price). AFAIK, SB is very similar to Starbucks. Cindy and I don't like either; we find them too burnt/bitter tasting. I like coffee black (no cream or sugar) and Cindy likes it with only cream. We both were preferring the free swill. But then someone suggested adding sugar to the SB, and I have to say it made an amazing difference. So it appears (to us anyway.....) that the Seattle "burnt' brands may actually be designed to work with sugar; not as good without. Anyone else experience this?

At home, we brew 12 cups at a time in some sort of drip machine. Although instead of a glass carafe, it keeps the coffee in heated reservoir, and lets you dispense directly into a cup/thermos (kinda like the water dispenser on most fridges). We like good coffees, especially some flavored (me especially since I don't add anything). The Dunkin' Donuts grounds are actually very good. Before that we used to get bags from "The Coffee Beanery", but I don't think they're in business any longer.

I have a Melita Pod machine at work to make 1-cup at a time, and have several flavors I finally settled into (Kona, Vanilla Haze, and Creme Brulee).
