Went with Rancho 9000XL - manually adjustable.

1. compression is softer than stock
2. rebound can be adjusted to 800% greater than stock
3. 3 year warranty / good previous experience with Rancho
4. almost 100% oil filled ... no gas pressure leaking issues
5. poly bushings, tri-tube design, etc...
6. 30 day to return if don't like

Might upgrade to remote in-cabin adjustable later.

Install was easy.

Will let you know about the ride when I get back from the Glen [Towing and not ]

Damn, wrong answer! I don’t want to play the adjustment game on my truck too Don’t tow quite the load you do either so may not need all the bells and whistles. What was your non adjustable choice?

Nice work Jase.

Riley - it looks like the non-adjustable, set it and forget it, version is the Rancho RS5000. They are ~$45/each, looks like I found my shocks.

Just to update this thread:

Towing trailer to the Glen was better with new shocks than Bilsteins that were on there [Factory supplied not valved same as larger aftermarket Bilsteins we regularly think of]. Not a huge difference but notable. Loaded: I increased rebound to: F 6 of 9 [9 = stiffest] and R 5 of 9. Towed very nicely and handled tongue weight of trailer trying to lift F wheels. Have weight distribution bars from trailer to truck hitch which sometimes make nose of truck pitch up and down as weight is transfered foward from trailer. Much less of this with these settings.

When unhitched driving around Watkins ... these settings are to much for the truck. Noticeable harshness to ride quality. Felt more like it was crashing over bumps.

A few thousand miles later .... am running around crappy NOVA / DC roads at F 3 or 4 of 9 [still deciding] and R 3 of 9. Much better ride, more "cadillac" like and still maintaining control of cornering "wallow". Good compromise setup for local.

Within past few months / miles took a trip to CT and back ~ 1,000 miles. Settings for Interstate cruising [allowing kids to sleep in back] F 3 of 9 and R 2 of 9. Very plush-y.

Next is R sway:

stock = 7/8" or 22.22 mm
1st option to upgrade = 1.0" or 25.4 mm
=171% increase in stiffness

Will leave F sway alone as is:

1 1/4" = 31.75 mm

Increased rear sway bar will hopefully dial out some understeer ... now only to find those elusive F camber plates ...

FWIW
