I saw a similar incident while at the Burke Lake Golf Course driving range. Dump truck with the bed in the tilted up position driving south on 123 caught a wire, ripped the telephone pole in half and shot it across the road, causing a compact car to roll over.

Guy in the rolled car was pretty bloody and shaken up. I was with my brother who is a doctor. There were about 3 other doctors on the golf course who also came running over. My brother the doctor said since there were other doctors who declared themselves in charge of the incident, he wanted to get the hell out of there and enjoy the afternoon. Fair enough.

I saw a large crane truck have the boom come loose and swivel around toward the passenger side while driving down the road. nobody got hurt, but right after I spotted it (and immediately took a detour through a nearby parking lot) it took out a pole, wires came down, etc. No power at work that day either. Makes a hell of a scary noise.

While on my bike I got smacked by a car two weeks ago on the hwy. doing 65 mph and didn't go down. It was terrifying. I have dropped my bike a good 20-30 times, though never on a paved road or at speed, twice with the wife on the back. No injuries when you wear all the right gear.

I respect you biker folks for the whole freedom & wind in your face thing. But I'm totally afraid of the other guys on the road, and that's why I don't think I'll ever get on a bike (other than the pedal variety...). A friend of mine at work was nearly killed by an errant driver who changed lanes into him while he was commuting to work. The helmet probably saved him. But he's kept that shredded suit as a reminder.......

Ride, don't ride, die anyway. It's all about the quality of your life. Most here should likely stay at home or play golf now there's a waste of time and band width Track can kill too, but then so can commuting!
