That was a ridiculously good time. (I have to clarify an above statement, though -- I, ahem, didn't spin, although I don't know if I should be proud or ashamed of that fact...)

I didn't get any driving shots, but I took a few in the paddock:

Jim experiments with some new, um, wheel weights:

At the end of the first day, for some reason we all sat under a very, very low tent.

Chris Martin gives his best sexy look in front of my car:

Arriving to the track in the early Sunday morning light:

This is Todd. He is our special friend. He drives a 944.

Dave's pipes were getting too hot, so Charlie dropped by and affixed the catalytic converter shield from his Civic.

The beginning of the ride home.

BTW, we should all notice this picture:

That is Dr. Plasche driving an unmodified '78 911SC on hard tires with seats so worn out and split at the seams that a spring pokes him in the nuts. Look at him embarrassing those shiny new Porsches! There's a reason we call him "the bus driver" ...he takes everyone to school!

Chris, I have your old dizzy rotor if you still want it. Found it laying in the grass when we were packing up.

Great Pics VU and Noah! To clarify, I didn't spin either, but my efforts to get everything out of the few ponies I have apparently killed them.

The pic Noah shot illustrates my new way to learn "zen" driving skills. By driving upside down, you cannot see the track and you are forced to rely upon your arse-o-meter and the "feel" of the car to drive quickly. You can develop sensitivity to pedal feel by using your hands rather than your feet. I must admit that the ISAAC harness was rather painful

Good to see that had a good time and great weather!

Also good to see that the SC is becoming well liked and that other groups and regions are booking it. It has already opened up the track time available to an “almost all you want” number of days and with low entrant # lots of on track time. We are all going to be better drivers via the experience gained on this track. A true steering wheel track.

Tony, how did the race go?

Smoke, big knock. No milkshake, no oil leak on ground, but it sounds nasty. Towed it from Summit to DC. I have to figure out what to do now . . .

Also, no obvious driver induced failure -- no money shift, no overrev. For the most part, I didn't even bounce off the rev limiter on the way up . . .

Real bummer.

No, she was extremely gracious. I don't think that this was driver error apart from not recognizing that their may have been a problem sooner. But, the problem set on very rapidly, and I honestly don't think it would have made much of a difference.

DOH! Sorry to hear that.

Pull the plugs and see if any are soaked. Knock by itself would lean to #2 bearing but smoke and knock leans twards valves and pistons and other items. Stop by and get my bore scope to look down the plug holes. Was the onset fast?
