Try http://www.928forum.com/ for specific tech info. Also, "Excellence Magazine" does market reviews for pricing. Shark fever hasn’t hit dorki land yet. But judging by the number of ’44 ish cars it’s bound to happen. It certainly won’t be a day-at-the beach when it does. Drop? Pull? That thing has to come out somehow? OldTee seems untypical quiet on this subject?

without a doubt it's a great GT, one which I'd love to use to hit Watkins, Mt. Treblant, Mosport trifecta in which is why.......
......I'd love to have a simple/basic/reliable big diesel V8 stuck into one of these and make it my tow vehicle |

928s, like all Porsches, are hit or miss in the used market. There is no reason to categorically dismiss the 928 unless you are really drunk on some other flavor of Porsche Kool-Aid (see Rennlist GT3 forum). Taking that car to Chris Prack is a good start to undestanding whether that is the right 928 for you. Are you aware of all the changes made throughout the years? The Bruce Anderson "buy the best and latest" you can afford model applies here, IMHO.

It's a 21 year old Euro car. Roll the dice! I think they look fantastic. I love the "shark look", but found them to be heavy and, as mentioned, not so light on the wallet to maintain. On the otherhand, the current owner has already thrown his bank account at the car and likely just wants to sell it for the money he just invested and will move onto a Camry instead

The car will be going to Intersport for Charlie to look at Thursday. We will then go from there . . . I like to think I'm fairly mechanically inclined so I would hopefully be able to do some of the work myself. Perhaps it can be an experimental toy for the Dorki crowd to get their hands "wet" on!!! I know how perpetually scared they are of that green liquid stuff; it's like kryptonite around here, but maybe David is right. A change on the horizon. OK, maybe not a change, but a relaxing of certain beliefs, perhaps?

Matt also pointed out oil at the valve cover seam and said that was due to 'blow by'. This was a 45K mile car and Matt mentioned 50K is about the time things start to go south. Good choice on taking the car to a shop that knows these car. 928's need special attention.

928 is a cool car. This car, 22 years later, still blows away nearly everything on the market today. It's just too bad about the electronics....

Hmmm, I know there are a few recent 944 converts on the board and from what I've seen a little more then that price range will get you started with a well sorted DE car. My limited understanding is that 944's are much cheaper to maintain as well ... maybe you want to give them a look before pulling the trigger on this deal ?
