Not sure what the strategic benefit of that was supposed to be.[*]Both MB cars came in for new tires under the Safety Car caution of Lap 4. I thought that was strange, since there was no debris involded in the incident; Ericsson got stuck in the gravel, and had to be craned out. Vettel staying out is what gave him the advantage. Why didn't MB also stay out since tires were only 3-4 laps used? MBs were apparently much harder on tires than the Ferraris. The softer tire was only good for 5-6 laps on the MBs. That is why they ran harder tires despite them being .9 seconds slower[*]On the MB last pit stops, I was surprised to see them put the Prime (red) tires on Hammy's car. When they were installed on the first pit stop, he didn't seem very happy with them. I think if the Options (white) had been used on Pit Stop 4, Hammy might have had a better chance to run down Vettel. See above[/LIST]And what must poor Alonso be thinking........
Doh!

I dunno.....the Lap 4 pit stop pretty much forced MB into a 3 stop strategy, for both cars even. IMHO, they're smarter than that.

Also, Nico's fastest lap of the race was 1:42.0. Hammy's was 1:43.1. And Vettel's fastest was 1:43.6.

I will have to go back to the DVR and replay that 1st Pit Stop portion to confirm what Vettel actually said.

This is interesting:

Not sure what this means, or if I should like it. We could start seeing jumps and drifting segments in future F1 events. Maybe even lasers to temporarily disable cars in front of you. Not that Bernie's all women F1 league was such a good idea, either.
