Not leaving much time to cure. I know modern asphalt cures faster than the old days, but still this doesn't seem like much time to me. But you guys are in for some smooth driving on very fresh pavement!

Reading this thread is killing me! I grew up in New Castle PA, not far from the track, and I have been wishing Potomac would run Beaver Run/PittRace ever since the place opened. Now, just months after I move across the country, it gets onto the schedule. Bad timing on the move to Arizona.

I don't know the track, but I know the neighborhood. Dr. K is right - Forbush'es is the best ice cream in the area (much better than that place on the main road near Watkins Glen).

Any restaurant that offers lamb-on-the rod with Syrian bread and yellow pepper sauce is probably a safe bet. It's kind of a local specialty, and it's hard for a kitchen to screw it up.

Ask the local folks who live near the track if The Green Man still wanders around on the roads after dark. Unlikely after all the years since I left town, but if you do happen to run into him, buy him an Arn City.

I hope you all have a great time on track and off. 'wish I was gonna be joining you.

Please post lots of pictures.

John

I'm supposed to be in Scottsdale that weekend (NCPDP). Also supposed to be in Chicago (AGA), Sanderling (vacation), and, of course, PittRace (PCA), but chose to be just a few yards north of Milton, NC!
