Wow 250 members & now product evals on hand guns! My personal favorite is the Clock 19. Smallish, high capacity 9 mm. I got it when my participation in Desert Shield loamed imminent. 3K rounds or so w/same reliability as Kurt. Shot several perfect “Pop-up” rounds at the Army’s AP Hill range w/it, but that was a looong time ago. Much easier to carry & shoot than my Dan Wesson 357, Higher capacity & more knock down than the Carter Arms 38S, even w/+P loads. I've never warmed to the Berretta. IMO the grip is to big & it's to heavy for a shoulder holster. The venerable 1911 is to hard to get into action quickly from a safe carry condition. & yes, I know how, I used to instruct the “0” Shave Tails on the care & feeding of the 1911. How about a “Club Range Night”, like the Cart outings.

Jim, you are welcome to come out of the house. Just be sure to behave yourself...

Good idea! lets set up a range night. I was given about 30# of 9MM and need to shoot it up before it goes bad.

My "Pocket protector" of choice for conceal carry is the Glock 26 loaded with +P+Hydra shock.

All of this fire arm chatter reminds me of a great bumper sticker..." keep honking, I'm reloading"

I'd be up for that!!

I shot on the Rifle Team in high school but haven't picked up a gun/rifle since.

I'd need a quick newbie handgun lesson, etc.

Just like a rifle, you even use both hands. You just don't put your cheek down near the stock.

How did I miss this one? Who carries a 9mm? The reason they have 15 round clips is because you can get shot with a 9mm several times and still drive yourself to the hospital. Try a .45 - 94% one shot stop rate. Lots of ammo is no substitute for poor marksmanship. About 20 yrs. ago the FBI lost a few agents in FL in a gun battle with a guy they had riddled full of 9mm slugs. But the guy just kept on living and shooting. That incident made them move to a larger caliber. I think they use .40 now. My SIG P220 is the most reliable and accurate gun I've ever owned. I've had 3 other .45's and none compared to my SIG. Of course, for the really fun shooting, I have my S&W Dirty Harry Special. It just forces you to utter the words, "Well, do ya punk?" before firing. I'd love to do a fun run to the NRA range sometime.

Best home gun is a pump 12 guage. Pull, pump, pull, pump, repeat as needed...

FBI went to 10mm due to the FL shoot out but found that 10mm was too hot for most folks and went to 40 cal which is a shorter less powerful version of the 10mm.

45 ACP is my load of choice for around town. For 9MM, +P+ Hydra-Shok is not too bad for a pocket rocket. Almost the same energy as a standard 45 ACP. Makes a little hole on the way in and stops short of coming out the other side. Don't want to hit anything but the bad guy...
