Default Engine drop Saturday 1/3/2004??

The fisrt engine drop of the new year! Weather.com says that the high for next Satruday is going to be 57, it seems like the perfect day to drop the engine out of the SC.

So I guess the question is who is available Saturday morning?? I will supply the regular food / beer, and give everyone a chance to test out their shiny new harbor freight jacks santa brought

The car is located in a small but workable garage off Wisconsin in Northwest. I will post directions closer to the date.

Oooooo.
I really want to attend one of these. May be a good way to start off the new year. I pretty sure I can attend (PM me directions, contact info). I will probably coming more for the education and moral support than any real expertise.

I can come by & lend-a-hand. Need any additional tools or jacks? 2 high lift jacks & pads can make repositioning the car a lot faster & easier. Are you going to try to beat the 1hr. 35 mins time?
Don’t forget your “check list”, remember the trouble we had w/the 2.5ltr/915 because I thought I would/could remember everything?

Bill, what a tough break. Eric, I just got a mc jack and can probably get it to the drop, but I don't know how long I can stay. LMK.

It looks like things are starting to shape up for the engine drop. There are a couple of things I need:

2 jack plates
Oil line wrench
Socket to remove CV's
Heat exchanger tool
If anyone has some big jacks those would come in handy as well, I have 2 smaller ones.

I have read the directions on Pelican, are there any other things I should look at? Where is this 'checklist' located? And what should I have done to the car before everyone shows up?

Dan - Thanks for the offer, but I got a MC jack for christmas this year, so I will be breaking that in!

Thanks Everyone!

Eric,

I have the oil line tools if you need them. A large cresent wrench will work well also. A mini sledge will probably be needed to coax that fitting off.

The heat exchanger tool is a 12/13mm 3/8 swivel socket, but not needed until the engine is on a stand. I have the MAPP/OXY setup you are welcome to to get those bolts off....soak will with penetrant first.

The CV sockets tool is just an allen socket, you'll need a longish extension. I have these also.

Shoot me a PM with your cell#. I should be done with most of these tools (including jack and pad) by Thursday.

Doug had a very good list....here's some items to get you started:

Drain oil from the case and oil tank
disconnect s-hose from bottom of oil tank
disconnect breater from top of oil tank
remove cv bolts from tranny and support them from hanging freely
disconnect set screw in shift coupler
disconnect throttle linckage from tranny
remove chutch cable from tranny
disconnect battery and remove starter wires (mark them)
disconnect fuel lines from top of fuel filer and bottom of accumulator
disconnect ground strap from firewall
disconnect additional small fuel line that runs to the left of the CIS
