Default Skidpad time!

Hi all,

Does anyone know the most cost effective way to get more skidpad time? I heard some people group up and rent out a skidpad at Summit for a day.

Any "hpde"s that focus on skidpad and car exercises similar to the driving clinic?

Nick

PCA Potomac rents the skidpad at Summit Point DEs.

Pretty sure BSR includes skid pad time at FATTs.

BMW Club puts on a driving clinic similar to PCA Potomac's HPDC.

Skidpad can be rented; contact BSR. It likely has to be on a weekday. If you want benefit, recruit some skidpad instructors to attend and coach you.

I feel like I need a lot more time than the 25 minute window at DEs so I wanted to see if there was a way to get it for longer.

I'll reach out to BSR to try and find out more details.

Edit: turns out they don't offer the skidpad as a standalone rental...

That's a change from prior policy, IIRC. Oh well.

They changed that a year or so ago, great shame, maybe the new owners with some persuasion might bring it back, would love to spend a day on the skid pad, never get enough of it.

Trackdaze runs an event on Shenandoah in May with the skid pad available pretty much on demand. I’ve jumped on it 3-4 times over the course of a weekend. No instructors though.

This year the track had some issues with rain. Skid pad was a great option!

We are hoping we may have use of a real skidpad (with water) for Potomac's Autocross School next year. Stay tuned. . . .

I contacted Dominion Raceway down in Thornsburg and they have a large paved area for autoX. It seems like they are willing to rent it out for a day. I'll update here when I get more info!

a) It's not wet, no sprinklers at all. Bring your own water truck (BYOWT).
b) The asphalt in the paddock does got have a good subgrade and now suffers from depressions from trailers. For AX they have to build the circuit around these little obstacles.

BMW NCC now has a Friday skidpad program at their events. $50 for 50 minutes, instructed.
