^2 on northern route, 15/70/64. I've driven all those, but, not on the same trip and it would be a very long drive with a trailer (with 2-3 spare tires). I've towed an enclosed trailer to/from Louisville over two days and it wears you out physically and mentally keeping your SA at peak.
Paying for transport as many noted above would be a good option.......particularly if your back is bothering you. You have a co-driver, correct? That said, I wish I was doing that drive.......

I've done this trip quite a few times. If you just want to get'r done take I-40 all the way back to I-81. No big mountain passes, and the most direct route by far. Maybe someone will be standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. If it's hot then drive at night.

Let me know if this gets delayed as I will be on the West Coast and coming home on the 7th or the 8th. Since I am planning on a red-eye coming home, this maybe an option I would consider - I hate those dam flights.

I don't see the point of traveling to LA to tow a car back to D.C. Why not shipping?

At first I didn't know there were folks that would tow your trailer for you although in hindsight it should have been obvious given trailer sales.
Also, I want it here NOW!

I've done this more than a couple of times. Even with the unexpected heat we're experiencing now, the best thing to do is head out 10E from LA to Phoenix, up to Flagstaff (and I do mean UP) and then right (east) on 40. 40 all the way to Knoxville, pick up 81 and you're home. Heat areas: LA to Phoenix, Northern NM, northern Texas and OK, then you're done with the insanity. Personally, I'll never do this again. I'm getting too old. . .

I mentioned shipping as a preferable option many posts ago - but if you insist on towing:
Hard to tell when trailer tires blow, and if you don't fix right away, the other tire on that size could be mightily stressed. Would you consider putting TPM's in the trailer tires? Is it your trailer out there? Did you buy it out there or tow it the other direction some time ago? Or did you purchase a car and a trailer?
