It seems like VIR would be a long, tough track for a Miata though Hog Pen and 3-4-5-6 would be a blast. Upper Esses and back straight not so much. Have fun!

In my 944Cup, I used to bring a magazine for the VIR back straight.

Agree with back straight. Fine if all the other cars are identical, but frustrating to give back all those passes you worked so hard for on the rest of the track. Climbing esses are great - fully on the gas from T4 to T10, tap and go!!

It evens out. Those with more powerful, but poorer handling, cars get frustrated getting passed in the turns by the slow cars with go-cart suspensions.

On the back straight at VIR in an SSM it helps if you download your Netflix movies in advance since the cell reception can be spotty.

Yes, I know and have done (although Behe said you had a little more HP than I did, also probably hit the first "S" at higher speed). But wouldn't recommend without sticky tires and well-sorted suspension. First time I experienced it was when in White, in Dwayne's orange "D" car - what a hoot!

I'm no civil engineer, but I do know fresh pavement requires about 30 days to leach and evaporate oils before it can accept paint. At least, it does on runway asphalt - which I know is a different composition than normal roadway asphalt. Roadway does require some time, too, which is why that temporary tape-like stuff gets put down by the town drunk after they pave. I wonder where racetrack mix lies in the spectrum - and how safe new pavement is before being allowed to properly evaporate all that off?

I did ride Barber in Aug 2004, after it opened sometime in 2003, and it was still buttery smooth and delightfully grippy. It was the best experience of my (not terribly long) amateur, wildly mediocre, racing career - right up until I endoed into Turn 1 after failing miserably at late-braking a guy on the outside, frustrated at stacking up behind him in every corner and getting out-pulled on the straights. (Still carrying some T-1000 parts in the elbow for that bit of amateur-ish-ness...)

That said, I'd knife my mother for the first run on some fresh powder at Summit!

Or, winter hits early in WV (after the madness in the Sierras this year - Mother Nature protesting the election results) and the asphalt plants close before they can even pour.
