Default Chesapeake Region Swap Meet

Just got the following email. Has anyone been to this event before?

Quote:
Santa’s coming to town and the Chesapeake Region has him at Valley Motors in Cockeysville!!! Join us on Sunday, December 7th, for our Santa’s Swap Meet. This is a Porsche only swap meet and who’s who of vendors will be there to find those much sought after Holiday treasures and stocking stuffers for your favorite Porsche person. This is also a perfect opportunity to buy a gift for the region’s annual Holiday party.

Valley Motors will clear the Porsches off the showroom floor for indoor vendors. In addition, they will also clear off their main parking area for outdoor vendors. This year is promising to be a great event. It will be held rain or shine. Vendors can begin set-up at 7:00am and the gates will open to buyers from 8:00am to 2:00pm. For those interested in selling something, indoor spaces for toys, memorabilia and non-greasy, small trim parts are $20 per space (if received before November 24th) or $25 after that or at the door. Outdoor spaces are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

There is no entrance fee for buyers! In addition, there are many generous ATM’s in the area.

Valley Motors is located at 9800 York Road in Cockeysville, Maryland only minutes from I-83 and I-695.

Directions: I-695 to I-83 North. Proceed approximately 2 miles to Padonia Road. Bear right at the exit and follow Padonia Road to York Road. Turn left at the traffic light. Valley Motors is approximately 2 blocks on the left.

For further details, contact Heinz Specht at 410-377-8337 (leave message if no answer) or email at specht10@bcpl.net. Make checks out to: Chesapeake Region, PCA and mail to Heinz Specht, 100 Armagh Drive, Baltimore, MD 21212. .

I've never heard of it before. Don't know where Cockeysville is but it sure sounds like a hike.

So does anybody know if it's worth the trip ???????

Ditto!
Now that my engine rebuild is done I'm looking foreward to my next project which will be Paint Job.
I need some body parts (Left front fender and left door and maybe a hood.) lso rubber and carpet sets.

It's a little closer for me because I'm already on this side of the ocean (River)

I did their "Rally in the Valley" a few years back. If I remember correctly, it took about 50 min. to get there. Nice dealership. I've never heard of the swap meet though. I think e-bay has killed the swap meets.

I've been to this before. It's a small swap meeting, last time I went there were 5 or 6 cars for sale. I had some parts for sale from my old SC and was able to sell some things. I think turn out depends on the weather.

Valley motors is kind of a hike even from Annapolis, but it is an excuse to go driving. Plus you can see one of those funky Porsche SUVs up close.

i've been there, last time was year before last. it is a bit of a drive from northern Va; have to go to baltimore beltway (695) then up 83 toward York PA for a couple of miles. last time i went, it was a little bigger than the recent potomac swap meet at DIM in herndon. but heck, any swap meet is a good reason to get out in the P-car! i'm always on the lookout for rusty used junk to fill the void in the basement

Damn snow and salt. I really wanted to drive to this!

I have an early car and they don't react well to this weather. They rust in protest!

Jason, thanks for the preview.
I was just told there isn't time this weekend to go to the swap meet.

I'm not good with the various changes over the years.
My front left fender has the fuel fill with headlight washer filler in it.
This fender was replaced along with the left door and front valance and maybe the bumper. I think they wre all from the same yellow car.
The hood is original but was bondo big time (You can see the crumples from inside.
Although they fit the front left fender is rusted thru in 2 places.
(The usual places: Above the headlight bucket and at the lower part behind the wheel and in front of the door.)

When did they stert galvanizing the body parts?
Could these parts be off an earlier car that wasn't galvanized?

I just don't want to go down that road again if I can help it.
Does it have power windows? I know they can be converted by just drilling some holes. I think the left door I have was converted because the window stops can't be adjusted quite right.

What do you think?
If anyone finds a Euro Fuel Distributer, please let me know!
Jason, I will pm my numbers
